New family medicine physician Dr. Eugene Nor and his family have traded the frosty mornings of eastern Pennsylvania for the warmer, temperate climate of Laurinburg.
Dr. Nor, board certified in family medicine, has joined the Laurinburg medical practice of Dr. Brad Faulkenberry to provide family medical care. "I love family medicine," Dr. Nor commented. "I like the variety of health issues that I see and treat. During my medical training I briefly considered specializing but found that I much prefer family medicine. I can provide care to children, teens, young adults, in fact, the entire family, and get to know a great many people. That's my favorite part of family medicine - the variety of people I see every day."
Born and raised in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, Dr. Nor has practiced medicine for ten years. He says medicine is his chosen profession because, "I was born a severe asthmatic and as a child I spent a great deal of time in the hospital. Because of my health problems, I wanted to be able to help other people with theirs. It was during Junior High School that I decided to become a doctor and make other people well."
Dr. Nor earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed a residency at Sacred Heart Family Practice, where he was named the Family Practice Resident of the Year in 1998-1999 and served as Chief Resident from 1999 to 2000.
The entire Nor family is excited about living in Laurinburg. "The climate here is so different from Pennsylvania," added Dr. Nor. "There the winters are long, dark and tough. Here, it's much milder and we are close to the North and South Carolina beaches, which we enjoy. I love hanging out with my boys and playing outdoors with them, which we can do almost year-round here. We're all big college football fans, particularly Penn State."
Marcie Nor, a trained ICU nurse, met Dr. Nor while he was in his residency training. Currently she is a stay-at-home mom to their three sons, Michael (8), Gregory (6) and Andrew (5).
Appointments can now be made with Dr. Nor by calling 910-276-2439. The practice is located at 1707-A Berwick Dr., Laurinburg.
