Scotland Memorial Hospital is proud to announce that Ryan Mackey, Emergency Center Director, has earned the designation of Board Certified Nurse Executive through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This certification allows him to add the credentials NE-BC to his name.
It is the mission of the ANCC is to promote excellence in nursing and health care globally through credentialing programs and related services.

"Health care reform mandates that nurses are able to integrate evidence-based clinical knowledge, effective communication, and leadership skills. In order to achieve these competencies individuals must commit to advanced nursing education. Advanced education is achieved through both earning certification and formal post-graduate degrees. These advanced certificates and degrees allow the nurse to appropriately advocate for the health and safety of the patient."
The Nurse Executive computer-based exam of 175 questions covers knowledge and competency in many areas of nursing administration. Criteria also include current, active RN licensure and a bachelor's degree in nursing. Candidates must have held an administrative nursing position for two years within the past five year period, and have completed 30 hours of continuing education in nursing administration within the past five years.
