Lane Harrington, ARNP, MN, began her duties this week as the Vice President of Patient Care Services at Scotland Health Care System.

Mrs. Harrington brings many years of nursing experience to her executive position at Scotland Memorial. She comes most recently from Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Florida, where she served as their Chief Nursing Officer for seven years, helping to open the facility.

Greg Wood, Scotland Health Care System President and CEO, says he is excited about the addition of Mrs. Harrington to his executive team. "Lane is an enthusiastic, collaborative and talented executive who shares our values and brings much energy and experience to our team. I am confident she will help lead our continued delivery of excellent care and service."

Originally from Georgia, Mrs. Harrington was working in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, when her sister encouraged her to join her in the nursing field. "I always wanted to take care of people and make a difference. For me nursing is about caring, passion, and kindness. My main goal is to ensure our nurses have the tools they need to do their job. As a Chief Nursing Officer, I miss bedside nursing but as a nurse leader I can impact a larger scope of patients. There's nothing better to me than getting a letter from a patient describing the wonderful care he or she has received at our hospital."

Mrs. Harrington is married to Michael Harrington, who recently began his duties as the Chief Operating Officer at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. "I look forward to getting to know Scotland Memorial's staff and members of the medical staff, as well as learning what the challenges are in my new role," Mrs. Harrington stated.

The couple has five children and two grandchildren, all of whom live in Florida. "We plan to purchase a home somewhere between our two hospitals, perhaps in Hoke County. We enjoy fishing and traveling together."
