Paul Brooks, Jr., of Pembroke, has joined Scotland Health Care System as Executive Director of Scotland Regional Health Network.

Having served on the Scotland Health Care System Board of Trustees for the past seven years, he has provided assistance to ensure it remains the success it has been for many years. Most recently he served as Executive Director of Prestwick Village, a family-owned assisted living facility in Laurinburg.

Born and raised in Pembroke, Brooks comes from a large family in the Robeson County area. "Many of my family members are either in the health care or education fields or in the ministry," he commented. "For the past 15 years my family has been serving Scotland and Robeson counties with home care needs."

Though extremely busy with the family businesses, Brooks says he liked the challenge this new role presented. "Scotland Health Care System serves our local community as well as the surrounding communities. To be able to come on board and help it continue to grow matches with my skillset. I am very excited about being a System associate and look forward to getting out into the community to help provide community members with the health care services they need. I will also assist in identifying the need for new physicians."

Ruth Glaser, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, stated she is delighted with addition of Paul to her staff. "Paul already knows many of the physicians and midlevel providers in the market since he is from the area. He brings valuable experience from his role with Prestwick Village and his term on the hospital board. He has a great personality and this role fits perfectly for him. Although Paul hasn't done a job exactly like this one, the resources of CPN will be invaluable. I'm thrilled to have him on my team!"

Scotland Regional Health Network consists of a group of physician who has aligned their medical practices with Carolinas Physician Network (CPN), a subsidiary of Carolinas HealthCare System which employs physicians throughout North Carolina.
